Reporting to the President/Accountable Executive, the Director of Aircraft Maintenance primary responsibility will be the safe, compliant, and efficient management of aircraft maintenance activities in accordance with Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA) regulations. This role oversees the maintenance of a fleet of Piper PA-31 Navajo and Chieftain aircraft, ensuring airworthiness, regulatory compliance, and operational reliability.

The ideal candidate is a proactive and detail-oriented aviation professional with strong technical knowledge and a practical understanding of maintenance management in a Canadian regulatory environment. They bring proven experience maintaining and overseeing Navajo and Chieftain aircraft (or similar types) and have a solid working knowledge of Transport Canada Civil Aviation Regulations. Comfortable balancing operational demands with regulatory compliance, the ideal candidate is an effective communicator and problem-solver who works collaboratively with flight operations, maintenance personnel, and external AMOs.

They are organized, safety-focused, and capable of managing maintenance planning, records, and budgets while minimizing aircraft downtime and supporting reliable, safe operations.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Overall responsibility for the maintenance control and airworthiness of the aircraft fleet in accordance with Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs)
  • Plan, schedule, and oversee scheduled and unscheduled maintenance
    , inspections, and defect rectification
  • Ensure all maintenance is carried out in compliance with:
    • CARs
    • Approved Maintenance Schedules
    • Manufacturer’s Maintenance Manuals
    • Company Maintenance Control Manual (MCM)
  • Act as the primary liaison with Transport Canada
    , (AMOs), and external vendors
  • Manage and monitor maintenance records
    , logbooks, and technical documentation to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance
  • Oversee component tracking
    , life-limited parts, Airworthiness Directives (ADs), Service Bulletins (SBs), and mandatory inspections
  • Supervise and support maintenance personnel and/or coordinate work with contracted AMOs
  • Participate in Safety Management System (SMS) activities, including hazard identification, risk assessment, and corrective actions
  • Support operational planning by minimizing aircraft downtime and improving maintenance efficiency
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of maintenance processes, reliability, and cost control
Qualifications
  • Valid Transport Canada AME (M1 or M2) license preferred (or equivalent experience deemed acceptable)
  • Minimum 5–7 years of aircraft maintenance experience, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or management role
  • Experience working with or managing an Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO)
  • Proven ability to manage maintenance planning, records, and compliance documentation
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with flight operations, management, and regulators
  • Proficient with maintenance tracking software and standard office applications
  • Eligible to work in Canada
