Job Description / Qualifications
Job Summary
Responsible for working as a Co-op to gain hands-on experience as a Mechanical Technician by working closely with our manufacturing team and other departments.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
• Sets up and operates CNC machinery and maintain production numbers for daily goals.
• Participates in producing product and performs quality checks.
• Participates in reading production work orders and submits all paperwork as required.
• Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
• Participates and maintains 5S in the workplace.
• Participates and contribute to the continuous improvement process.
• Adheres to all workplace safety policies, compliances, and regulations.
• Other duties as assigned
Nature and Scope
Selects correct processes from clearly prescribed rules, past practices, or instruction. Seeks advice and guidance on non-routine or problem areas from supervisor. Deviations from the norm are cleared by the supervisor.
Under close supervision, exercises limited latitude/independent judgment. Work typically involves detailed checks or close review of output by a senior coworker and/or supervisor.

Work Environment
Typically located in a comfortable indoor area. There may be regular exposure to mild physical discomfort from factors, such as dust, fumes or odors, temperature extremes, loud noise, strong drafts, or bright lights.
Most of the time is spent sitting in the same position or standing/walking and/or there is some requirement to lift or handle material or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds).
No travel required.

Preferred Qualifications
• 6+ months experience.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment with knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and use measuring devices such as Vernier and Micrometer caliper, and tape measure, etc.
• Senior year Mechanical Technician – CNC / Engineering Student Understanding of CNC Programming and G-codes
