Maintenance Planner

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for the comprehensive planning, scheduling, and coordination of all maintenance tasks within the assigned section, ensuring operational efficiency and asset reliability. The Maintenance Planner will directly supervise a team of tradesmen, coordinating their work across all shifts to support 24/7 operations. This role also involves conducting daily meetings with Operations and Maintenance management to ensure seamless coordination and alignment of priorities.

• Enforce safety rules and ensure a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
• Prevent incidents by fostering a 'zero safety incidents' and 'zero quality incidents' mentality and culture.
• Monitor and analyze line performance metrics related to maintenance, such as downtime, breakdowns, and MTTR.
• Utilize CMMS to log maintenance activities, track parts usage, and monitor equipment history.
• Coordinate and prioritize maintenance work on assigned production lines to ensure maximum equipment uptime.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns or stoppages and lead root cause investigations and corrective actions.
• Improve cost through systemic loss elimination and own the maintenance budget execution in the section.
• Lead and supervise a team of maintenance technicians, providing task assignments, guidance, and on-the-job training.
• Collaborate with the Line Manager and production staff to align maintenance tasks with production schedules.
• Build and grow high-performing teams and train and coach teams on new technical and operational standards.
• Own maintenance planning & scheduling, countermeasure breakdowns, and handle abnormality SWPs.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation on equipment, SOPs, and troubleshooting guides.
• Lead focused improvement initiatives to identify and eliminate losses, reduce cycle times, and improve yield.
• Conduct root cause analysis and problem solving using appropriate tools to address process failures.
• Set priorities through the Daily Management System and effectively escalate issues.

• Experience in planner, schedule planning, preventive maintenance, work orders, and predictive maintenance.
• 2-3 years in current role, ready for promotion, with proven people leadership skills.
• 4+ years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing maintenance environment, with 1–2 years in a leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automation systems.

• Experience in TPM, Lean, 6
  
  Sigma, and HPO concepts is a plus.
• Technical diploma or trade certification (Millwright / Electrician).

This role is based in a manufacturing food facility, specifically a peanut facility, with approximately 150 production workers. The environment adheres to GMP standards, requiring the use of hair nets, smocks, safety shoes, and ear protection.

This is a Contract position based out of Scarborough, ON.

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $55.00/hr.
