Position SummaryThe Maintenance Technician is responsible for the preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of automated production and packaging equipment in a fast‑paced food and beverage manufacturing environment. This role plays a critical part in minimizing downtime, supporting production targets, and ensuring full compliance with Ontario health, safety, and food safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Perform daily inspections and preventative maintenance on production and packaging equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and PLC‑controlled systems
- Maintain and service equipment including conveyors, palletizers, depalletizers, wrappers, and labeling systems
- Support automated filling and packaging lines, including Krones and/or Tetra Pak equipment
- Respond to production line breakdowns and work collaboratively with operators to restore equipment performance
- Diagnose root causes of failures and implement corrective and preventative actions
- Maintain automation components such as sensors, drives, motors, and HMIs
- Complete maintenance documentation and follow established PM and work order procedures
- Ensure compliance with Ontario Health & Safety legislation
, GMPs, food safety, and company policies - Participate in training and knowledge‑sharing with operators and maintenance team members
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, safety, and efficiency
- Perform other duties as assigned to support plant operations
- 4+ years of maintenance experience in a food, beverage, or manufacturing environment
- Strong working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Experience troubleshooting PLC‑controlled equipment (Allen‑Bradley preferred)
- Hands‑on experience with Krones and/or Tetra Pak equipment is a strong asset
- Electromechanical experience including sensors, VFDs, motors, and HMIs
- Ability to read schematics, electrical diagrams, equipment manuals, and parts lists
- Ontario trade license (Millwright 433A, Electrician 442A, or equivalent) is an asset
- Strong problem‑solving and diagnostic skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a high‑speed production environment
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally with production teams
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical work as required
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
