The Head of Production Planning is responsible to oversee the planning/scheduling operations for the two Canadian sites to ensure the highest customer experience while controlling internal network costs.
Job Responsibilities- Manages a team of operational supply chain planners / schedulers located at the production facility(s). Accountable for the execution of supply chain plans, target setting, and process adherence. Facilitates annual goal setting and performance management. Proactively ensure direct reports are meeting or exceeding service targets/goals.
- Develop master production schedule to meet customer demand and maximize production efficiency and capacity constraints. Coordinates with manufacturing, maintenance, quality, and HESQ groups, managing day to day scheduling changes, conflicts and operations.
- Develop detailed daily schedule using the planning and execution systems (PPDS/SAP). Daily, weekly, monthly, review of existing and future production planning and preparations and adjust schedules as needed. Sequences process orders to maximize efficient changeovers and cleanouts.
- Resolves supply issues through close coordination with operations and product management teams and ensures status communication to customer service and sales representatives.
- Direct Raw Material planner(s) to ensure sufficient raw materials are available to meet production needs while maintaining inventory targets. Identify potential production risks related to raw material supply and develop solutions proactively to present to key stakeholders(Operations, BU leadership, etc). Align with Strategic Sourcing to ensure execution of sourcing strategies and cost reduction initiatives are met.
- Engage in monthly Global Supply Review meetings/process.
- Oversee the development and/or maintenance of capacity models for the site(s). Aide in the development of a balanced global supply plan.
- Assist in production risk assessment (resource constraints, unplanned outages, raw material disruption, etc.) and contingency/mitigation plans.
- Review supply chain performance relative to established targets and KPI's (i.e. OTIF C; production attainment) and address deviations via Root Cause Corrective Action(RCCA)
- Facilitate the prevention and reduction of Slow Moving and Obsolete Goods (SMOG) for the business.
- Assist in Employee hiring and training; (in the case of direct reports this also includes performance evaluations, retention and termination activities) and coach/train supply chain team members in the responsibilities, processes and tools used in supply and production planning.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Supply Chain, Economics, Engineering, or Sciences or similar educational field is required.
- Certification in APICS, CPIM/CSCCP, IBF, or similar is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 to 10 years of proven experience in supply chain/production planning/scheduling along with experience leading people both directly and indirectly.
- Experience with SAP, Advanced SAP (ECC) knowledge in OM, MM a plus.
- Strong skills in using MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to travel regionally up to 10% of the time.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills along with demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills in a regional network.

The Elmira facility is a state of the art production facility used to manufacture synthetic lubricants and additives for lubricants, plastics and rubber. In addition to the main production facilities we have a comprehensive wastewater treatment system that is used to treat all of the process wastewater that is generated on site, and a groundwater treatment system to remove historic contaminants prior to discharge.
The Elmira site is also home to a pilot plant, which is used by our scientists and engineers to develop and test new products and production processes.
Situated on 75 acres (of which 22 acres are used for operations), the manufacturing facility operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our hourly employees are represented by the United Steelworkers Union.
The West Hill facility began its operations in 1962, The first operation at the West Hill site consisted of a custom blending facility for a major Canadian oil and gas company. In 1992, the property at 565 Coronation Drive was purchased. It currently houses offices, a research and development laboratory and a finished goods warehouse.
