Position Summary
Reporting to the Supply Planning Manager, the Production Scheduler is accountable for developing and maintaining the Master Production Schedule (MPS), ensuring customer requirements are met while working within operational constraints such as plant capacity, labour availability, and material supply. This role works closely with plant colleagues and cross‑functional teams to coordinate production planning activities, optimize production efficiency, and balance inventory targets to support strong operational execution.

- Build high‑quality, executable production schedules and confidently communicate scheduling decisions, balancing customer service requirements, capacity constraints, and inventory targets;
- Work closely with Production teams to optimize plant efficiencies through both tactical and strategic scheduling of production lines;
- Drive adherence to the production schedule to support high fill rates and strong customer satisfaction;
- Plan and manage inventory levels to ensure appropriate coverage, taking corrective action to maintain inventory within defined minimum and maximum targets;
- Analyze seasonal inventory build requirements by reviewing manufacturing capacity and customer demand, identifying any potential risks and opportunities;
- Monitor and mitigate risks related to excess or shortage inventory by providing root‑cause analysis, inventory aging insights, and recommendations for appropriate disposition channels;
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, including the development of communication plans, planning tools, and reporting to enhance scheduling effectiveness;
- Drive service level performance by analyzing root causes of shortages and implementing preventive actions to reduce future supply disruptions;
- Collaborate with other plant schedulers to ensure timely and accurate flow of WIP and raw materials across the network;
- Ensure compliance with all Occupational Health & Safety Act requirements and food safety procedures, including HACCP standards.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in production planning/ master production scheduling/ capacity management in FMCG companies;
- Degree or Diploma in Business, Engineering or Supply Chain;
- Computer savvy – intermediate to advanced Excel skills, comfortable using Outlook;
- Strong verbal and written communication;
- Assertive and curious to learn about plant operations;
- Must attend plant meetings as needed;
- Experience in food manufacturing is a strong asset.
CAD $56,523 – $75,458
BonusThis position is eligible for a bonus up to 7% of base salary subject to the plan terms and conditions.
Additional InformationPlease note that the expected hiring range provided is derived from a group of like roles within Sofina. The final offer amount for this role will be dependent on geographical region, applicable experience, skillset of the candidate and internal equity.
