The Production Supervisor is responsible for the day‑to‑day activities to achieve the established metrics and standards for safety, quality, production, customer service, and people management. The role develops high‑performing teams, acts as a change agent, drives results, inspects, and builds a best‑in‑class working environment.
Major Duties and Responsibilities- Enforces safety and compliance policies and procedures.
- Reviews daily production and quality goals using reports, data, and discussions.
- Develops a daily plan to meet the metrics and key performance indicators.
- Allocates resources to meet production and quality goals, such as staffing assignments and schedules, and collaborates with other departments regarding staffing needs.
- Monitors daily production and quality by observing the production floor, supervising employee performance, and inspecting production and quality progress.
- Adjusts production and quality plans, as needed, to ensure labor efficiency and that goals are met.
- Conducts the daily people management responsibilities: interviewing, hiring, training employees; planning, assigning, directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Ensures employees follow SOPs and policies (operational, attendance, conduct, etc.).
- Walks the floor to engage and check in with employees and observe production and quality progress.
- Communicates performance goals and expectations, continually updating the production team on performance and policies/procedures.
- Builds and develops teams through talent development practices, performance management and succession planning.
- Fosters a positive work environment, ensuring employees demonstrate the company’s values.
- Improves production and quality through root cause analysis and leading improvement projects.
- Partners with other Production Supervisors and departments to achieve expected results and continuous improvements.
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, or equivalent verifiable experience.
- 3+ years of experience leading others.
- Demonstrated skills in goal setting, accountability, coaching, employee development, change management, conflict resolution, root‑cause problem solving, decision making, time management, and effective communication (verbal and written).
- Self‑motivated with a high sense of urgency, resourcefulness, and adaptability.
- Basic computer skills and proficiency with MS Office; ability to learn other systems (e.g., SAP).
- Experience in a high‑volume environment with complex technical processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience.
Pay Range: $56,756.80 – $70,946.00. In addition, you may be offered a competitive bonus and/or commission plan, which complements a first‑class total rewards package. Benefits may include health care, retirement savings, paid time off/vacation, and employee discounts.
