The Role

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Production Manager is responsible for overseeing all daily production operations within Sierra and ensures that products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and in compliance with quality and regulatory standards. This role leads production teams, manages production schedules, drives continuous improvement, and ensures operational targets related to safety, quality, cost, and delivery are achieved.

Production Operations
  • Manage and oversee daily manufacturing operations to ensure production targets, efficiency, and quality standards are met.
  • Develop and execute production schedules based on demand forecasts and customer orders.
  • Monitor production performance, yield, and downtime to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Ensure proper staffing levels and workforce allocation across production lines.
Food Safety & Quality Compliance
  • Ensure all operations comply with CFIA regulations, food safety programs, and internal quality standards.
  • Maintain strict adherence to HACCP, GMP, and BRC standards where applicable.
  • Partner with Quality Assurance to investigate and resolve product quality issues.
  • Support internal and external food safety audits.
Team Leadership
  • Lead, coach, and develop production supervisors and frontline employees.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, training, and employee development initiatives.
  • Promote cross‑functional collaboration with Maintenance, QA, and Supply Chain teams.
Continuous Improvement
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase productivity and reduce waste.
  • Utilize KPI tracking to drive operational excellence.
  • Analyze production data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Lead root cause analysis for operational issues.
Safety Management
  • Promote and enforce workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with provincial safety regulations and company safety standards.
  • Lead safety initiatives and participate in incident investigations.
Core Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in meat OR food processing operations with a focus on efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with HACCP, GMP, and BRC programs.
  • Knowledge of industry trends and best practices in meat & food processing in Canada.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop a team of supervisors, line leaders, and other staff in a Canadian workplace environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with cross‑functional teams and external stakeholders in Canada.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills to identify and solve complex issues.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced setting while maintaining a focus on safety and quality in Canada.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with ERP systems used in Canada.
