Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to support the development and implementation of a Continuous Improvement (CI) process focused on reducing milk rework and product dumps.
This role will involve analyzing current processes, identifying root causes, and proposing sustainable solutions to minimize waste and improve operational efficiency.
Learning Opportunities- Hands‑on experience in process optimization within a food manufacturing environment.
- Exposure to Lean and Six Sigma tools.
- Opportunity to contribute to sustainability and cost‑saving initiatives.
- Data Analysis & Reporting
- Collect and analyze data on milk rework and dump occurrences.
- Identify trends, patterns, and root causes using tools such as Pareto charts and root‑cause analysis.
- Process Mapping & Documentation
- Document current workflows related to milk handling and rework.
- Assist in creating standardized procedures and visual controls.
- Continuous Improvement Projects
- Support CI initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma principles.
- Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions to reduce waste.
- Collaboration
- Work closely with production, quality, and maintenance teams to gather insights and validate solutions.
- Participate in cross‑functional meetings and present findings.
- Performance Tracking
- Create dashboards or reports to monitor progress and KPIs related to milk rework and dumps.
- Currently enrolled in a post‑secondary program in Food Science, Engineering, Operations Management, or related field.
- Robust analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement methodologies is an asset.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and data visualization tools.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
