Optics Manufacturing Support Technician (Level B, 12 month contract)

The Manufacturing Technician – Optics Manufacturing Support is responsible for supporting the manufacturing/coating of optical elements in the WESCAM MX-series product line. Additionally, they will work closely with Front‑Line Operations Leadership and Engineering staff to support ongoing production.
Primary Responsibilities- Inspect, clean, coat chambers, components, and troubleshoot established manufacturing processes and procedures including sandblasting components and parts washing.
- Effectively manage multiple priorities, including manufacturing testing, measuring, and troubleshooting tasks to meet critical project timelines and production goals.
- Engage in cross‑functional collaboration, working closely with operation engineers, production teams, and management to tackle technical challenges and drive innovative solutions.
- Maintain meticulous documentation, including detailed records of maintenance, troubleshooting efforts, and implemented solutions. PM on the equipment and tools.
- Technical Proficiency – strong ability to read and interpret operations instructions and test procedures; basic computer skills.
- Strong Collaboration & Communication – good interpersonal skills to work effectively with engineers, production teams, and management. Adept at written and verbal English communication.
- Continuous Improvement & Safety Mindset – ability to think critically, identify process inefficiencies, suggest improvements and be open to change.
- High standards in quality with attention to detail; capable of learning and taking on new tasks with increasing responsibility.
- 0‑4 years of work experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Prior experience in an ISO 9000 / AS9100 and Lean Manufacturing environment (asset).
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles (asset, not required).
- Ability to safely handle delicate optical parts and occasionally lift 30 lbs.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, and at times in a team setting.
- Must be eligible for registering with the Controlled Goods Program of Canada.
- Posting is for a current vacancy. In Ontario, Canada, the pay range for this position is $27.40/hr.
