- Sand raw carbon fiber parts using a dual-action sander or by hand, maintaining accuracy to avoid burning the weave or distorting body lines.
- Mask parts using automotive painter's tape and masking paper, ensuring standards are met for coverage and adhesion.
- Inspect parts for defects such as pinholes or porosity; repair defects using body filler to maintain part quality.
- Check and refine edges to ensure uniformity, applying body filler when necessary for correction.
- Accurately mix body filler with hardener in correct ratios to ensure consistent application and curing.
- Utilize both waterborne and solvent-based cleaners as necessary.
- Conduct thorough inspections pre- and post-sanding to confirm uniformity and adherence to preparation standards.
- Review all parts before and after masking to confirm readiness for painting.
- Consistently use appropriate PPE for all sanding and preparation tasks.
- Follow established health and safety protocols in handling tools, chemicals, and sanding equipment.
