In this role you will:
Manages end-to-end process (including conceptualizing and creating the communications strategy, development and delivery of communications, and measuring success) of communications on behalf of assigned portfolios while ensuring alignment with Canadian Banking, Global Corporate Affairs and all-Bank plans and priorities.Leads media relations, developing and executing proactive media strategies driving compelling stories, trains spokespeople, and manages reactive media process.Supports with thought leadership opportunities for Canadian Banking retail leaders, both internally and externally.Spearheads issues management providing proactive, strategic communications advice and support for any issues that may have a reputational risk to the business and/or the Bank, spanning from client escalations to internal remediation projects.Assists in the development and execution of internal and external communication strategies and tactics, including positioning and key message development, stakeholder analysis, and coordination with other communications partners to advance strategic priorities and drive stakeholder engagement.Supports senior management and business partners by interpreting complex messages and creating innovative and targeted communications for various layers of the organization.Represents CB communications on various working teams and at periodic cross-functional status meetings.Develops strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to further the Bank’s communications objectives.Monitors current issues and events to produce relevant and timely thought leadership and commentary.Supports broader CB-wide communications initiatives, such as planning documents, trackers.Supports a high-performance environment by fostering an inclusive work environment and communicating vison/values/business strategy.Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/AF/sanctions and conduct risk.Dimensions

Post-secondary diploma or degree in communications, journalism or equivalent experience.Minimum of eight (8) years working experience in a corporate communications or related industry communications experience in a complex, dynamic, knowledge-based environment.Understanding of the financial industry is an assetFluency in French and/or Spanish is an asset.Skill and Experience
Exceptional written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to create and deliver strategic communications plans that drive engagement across a large employee base and amongst a range of stakeholders.Demonstrated media relations and issues management experience, with a knowledge of the Canadian media landscape.Experience in seeking, creating, and championing creative communication solutions.Excellent oral and written English communication skills.Excellent project management skills with a high-level of accountability for the quality and timely completion of projects.Knowledge and experience communicating via different channels, including print, web, visual media, SharePoint and emerging communication platforms; social media experience an asset – with demonstrated experience in leveraging the latest communication vehicles to effectively communicate to employees.Comfort working in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment, with an ability to remain calm under pressure.Strong organizational and project management skills, with meticulous attention to…
