It reports to the Business Unit Head, Rare.

Role Purpose

The Senior MEL owns local HCP engagement strategy and execution for in‑market IG brands, translating central strategy, modular assets, market research, customer insights and competitive intelligence into high‑quality Local Campaign Blueprints, integrated brand plans and tactical programmes that maximise portfolio performance and patient impact. The role also leads commercial tender management for IGs and partners with cross‑functional teams to support business growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set engagement priorities across IG in‑market brands, manage sequencing conflicts and capacity constraints.
  • Ensure consistent customer‑experience principles across the portfolio.
  • Translate company and IBU priorities into locally relevant portfolio execution.
  • Lead market innovation, customer insight and competitive readiness; develop relationships with KOLs, treatment centres and external stakeholders.
  • Govern blueprint quality standards, establish readiness gates and drive continuous improvement.
  • Coach and develop customer‑facing capability and create a community of practice.
  • Lead cross‑functional alignment with BU, Sales, Medical, Marketing, Finance, Supply and other partners.
  • Define test‑and‑learn, launch readiness and lifecycle management plans; convert learnings into playbooks.
  • Represent the LOC in engagement forums, provide evidence‑backed recommendations on module roadmaps and standards.
  • Partner with Campaign Activation Lead(s) to reduce rework, improve cycle time and increase transparency of performance reporting.
  • Track performance, impact and investment effectiveness; support KPI definition, monitoring and corrective actions.
  • Lead the delivery of marketing programmes and initiatives that support financial targets.
  • Align and track cross‑functional marketing OPEX, identify deviations and develop mitigation options.
  • Inspire, align and enable the sales team through clear communication of priorities, campaign intent and performance feedback.
  • Integrate digital, diagnostic and patient‑centred considerations into brand strategy and tactics where relevant.
  • Ensure compliance with Takeda policies, laws, industry codes and regulatory review processes.
Profile, Experience & Qualifications
  • 5–8 years progressively responsible experience in pharmaceuticals, including product management or commercial portfolio experience.
  • Qualification in health sciences, business administration or a related discipline; advanced degree such as MSc, MBA or equivalent is an asset.
  • Minimum five years of proven ability to partner with stakeholders in healthcare systems, funding bodies and policy‑related environments.
  • Deep understanding of specialty care, rare disease, immunology or plasma‑derived therapies and public reimbursement and tender procurement models.
  • Strong influence over complex matrix organisations and support cross‑functional execution.
  • Experience translating global strategy into local system impact, especially around brand initiatives and execution that produce measurable outcomes.
  • Experience with product launch, lifecycle management, competitive readiness, diagnostic pathways, digital engagement or patient diagnostics is beneficial.
  • Above‑country or multi‑market experience is an asset.
  • Leadership capabilities: credible external partner, change enabler, outcome‑oriented, strong collaboration skills, strategic planning, analytical and financial/business acumen, customer insight and market‑shaping orientation.
