Position Summary
As a Senior Copywriter at INNOCEAN Canada, you are a lead creative voice shaping ideas, language, and storytelling across integrated client work. You bring strategic thinking and refined craft to every brief, guiding copy development from concept through execution while mentoring junior writers. This role is ideal for an experienced writer who balances big-picture thinking with hands-on excellence and helps raise the creative bar across the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop strong, original copy and creative concepts across brand, retail, digital, social, print, web, and broadcast channels.
- Lead copy development on key projects, ensuring work is strategically sound, on brief, and on brand.
- Collaborate closely with Art Directors to concept and execute integrated creative ideas.
- Translate client business objectives, insights, and briefs into compelling creative platforms and executions.
- Write copy for a wide range of deliverables including headlines, scripts, long-form content, social posts, websites, emails, and campaign toolkits.
- Present creative work and rationales clearly and confidently to internal teams and clients.
- Participate actively in creative reviews, applying and giving constructive feedback.
- Mentor and support junior writers, helping develop craft, confidence, and creative thinking.
- Contribute to new business efforts, pitches, and strategic initiatives alongside creative and account leadership.
- Partner with Account, Strategy, and Production teams to ensure work is delivered efficiently and at a high standard.
- Maintain awareness of cultural trends, evolving platforms, and changes in how people engage with content.
Qualifications & Experience
- Typically 5-8 years of copywriting experience in an agency or creative environment.
- Degree or diploma in Advertising, Communications, Writing, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Advanced writing skills across multiple formats and channels.
- Ability to think conceptually and execute ideas with precision and consistency.
- Strong understanding of tone, voice, and brand storytelling.
- Experience writing for digital-first platforms including social, web, CRM, and content ecosystems.
- Understanding of how copy adapts across paid, owned, and earned channels.
- Comfort working within integrated campaigns spanning multiple media types.
- Experience mentoring or guiding junior writers.
- Strong collaboration skills with Art Directors, Designers, and cross-functional teams.
- Clear communicator able to articulate ideas and creative rationale.
- Proficiency in writing and presentation tools such as Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
- Familiarity with creative workflows, project management tools, and review processes.
- Comfort reviewing copy within layouts, storyboards, scripts, and rough cuts.
- Awareness of how AI tools can support ideation, iteration, and refinement.
