What You Will Do- Support the execution of communications plans for business initiatives and public affairs priorities.
- Assist with drafting and editing communications materials such as news releases, media advisories, backgrounders, employee communications, presentations, speaking notes, digital content, and key messages.
- Monitor media coverage, track inquiries, gather background information, maintain media lists, and help prepare materials to support media responses and spokesperson preparation.
- Seek to understand the business context behind assignments and find opportunities, risks, or considerations that may strengthen communications recommendations.
- Bring forward observations, questions, and ideas that may improve communications outcomes, audience understanding, or team efficiency.
- Provide support during issues and crisis situations by gathering information, drafting updates, tracking approvals, and advancing items as required.
- Coordinate with internal partners to collect information, confirm details, and support the timely completion of communications deliverables.
- Support the development of digital communications content, including intranet posts, social media copy, digital newsletters, graphics briefs, and campaign materials.
- Monitor digital communications trends, analytics, and audience engagement to help find opportunities for more effective storytelling.
- Help test and adopt new digital tools, templates, and AI-enabled practices that improve team efficiency and content quality.
- University degree or equivalent experience in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Public Affairs, or a related field.
- One to three years of related communications, public affairs, media relations, or corporate communications experience, including internships or co‑op placements.
- Interest in learning about communications, media relations, collaborating with partners, and the energy sector.
- Foundational experience supporting communications activities such as drafting materials, monitoring media coverage, preparing briefing notes, or coordinating approvals.
- Strong writing, editing, research, and verbal communication skills, with attention to accuracy and detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively under the mentorship of more senior team members.
- Demonstrated curiosity, good judgment, and willingness to learn from feedback and apply lessons to future work.
- Ability to explore and recommend new tools and AI‑enabled solutions that improve efficiency.
- Strong time management skills.
Salary:
Ranges from $63,000 – $85,000 CAD for Ontario locations based upon candidate’s experience, skills, and internal equity.
