About us:

The Henry N.R. Jackman Faculty of Law is one of the oldest professional faculties at the University of Toronto. Today, it is one of the world's great law schools. The Faculty's rich academic programs are complemented by its many legal clinics and public interest programs. Jackman Law is housed in the elegant, state-of-the-art Jackman Law Building, alongside two historic buildings, Flavelle House and Falconer Hall, on the St.

George Campus in downtown Toronto.


Your opportunity:

Pro Bono Students Canada (PBSC) is a national organization which is hosted by and has its head office at the Jackman Faculty of Law, with Chapters at 22 Canadian law schools. PBSC’s mission includes providing free legal support to people and communities facing barriers to justice and providing law students with an opportunity to develop their legal skills.

Under the general supervision of the National Director - PBSC, the Communications and Projects Officer will be responsible for PBSC’s communications and outreach products and strategies. This includes producing content in print and digital formats and providing administrative support for projects and events.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing content for marketing and/or promotional materials
  • Editing content for brochures, newsletters, websites and/or handbooks
  • Formatting and maintaining communication templates
  • Tracking and monitoring digital communications activities
  • Disseminating information via social media
  • Maintaining information on digital platforms
  • Providing routine information on programs and events
  • Tracking and collecting information on project progress


Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum four years directly related experience in communications and project coordination, preferably in a university or non-profit organization setting
  • Demonstrated experience supporting communications strategies
  • Experience creating promotional and outreach materials
  • Experience planning and implementing large scale in-person and virtual events
  • Experience managing website, social media content and digital media communications
  • Experience collaborating on financial responsibilities, such as cost estimates, purchase and events expenses
  • Excellent communication skills - verbal and written
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines and priorities
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Proficiency with Canva and Adobe Acrobat
  • Solid project management skills


Assets (Nonessential):

  • Experience with Wix platform
  • French language proficiency
