Position SummaryThe Employment Outreach Counselor is a front-line role supporting both employment services and community outreach initiatives. As the first point of contact for job seekers, the counselor creates a welcoming, supportive, and inclusive environment while assisting clients with their early job search journey. Combining client support and outreach activities, the role includes intake, workshop facilitation, employer engagement support, and community events.
EligibilityCriteria
Employees must be between 15-30 years old, be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person to whom refugee protection has been conferred and be legally entitled to work in Canada. International students and work permit holders are ineligible.
Key ResponsibilitiesClient Support & Employment Services
- Greet and support clients accessing employment services, ensuring a positive and professional experience.
- Assist with client intake, eligibility screening, and basic needs assessments.
- Support the development of simple action plans with guidance from senior staff.
- Provide one‑on‑one assistance with resumes, job search strategies, and interview preparation.
- Help facilitate job readiness workshops (e.g., resume writing, interview skills, job search techniques).
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date client records in internal tracking systems.
- Conduct follow‑ups with clients to track progress and provide additional support.
Outreach & Employer Engagement
- Support outreach activities to promote programs and services within the community.
- Assist in organizing and attending job fairs, networking events, and community outreach initiatives.
- Help research potential employers and job opportunities for clients.
- Support maintaining and updating job postings on internal job boards.
- Assist in building relationships with community partners and employers.
- Participate in planning and executing workshops, information sessions, and recruitment events for the program.
Administrative & Program Support
- Maintain organized documentation and tracking of client interactions and outreach activities.
- Support data entry, reporting, and file management.
- Assist with preparation of workshop materials and outreach resources.
- Collaborate with team members to support program goals and service targets.
- Perform other administrative and program‑related duties as assigned.
- Currently enrolled in or have completed a post‑secondary program (Human Resources, Social Services, Business, Psychology, or related field preferred).
- Strong interest in employment services, community outreach, or supporting diverse populations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and learning new systems.
- Ability to engage respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
