Executive Director

Palestine Impact Collective aims to create safety within the social impact sector, including philanthropic foundations, charitable organizations, and the social finance sector, to advance decolonial dialogue and action for Palestine, and to shift narratives and capital away from supporting colonial projects globally.

After three years of existence, Palestine Impact Collective (PIC) is now seeking to hire a full time Executive Director who can help the Collective further realize its potential and increase its impact on the sector and contribute to the global movement for decolonization, justice and liberation. The Executive Director will do so by helping to set PIC’s strategic priorities and strategic directions.

This position will require someone who is a self-starter and has a demonstrated commitment to PIC’s statement of principles and code of conduct.

For this role, we are searching for candidates with significant leadership experience organizing, coordinating and demonstrating commitment to decolonization and social justice causes. This role will be hybrid in nature and a preference is for someone who is based in the Greater Toronto Area. Members of the collective are volunteers and many of the meetings will take place during lunch hour, evenings and some weekends.

This position requires flexible hours to accommodate our membership.

• Strategy and Growth: Setting and acting on strategic priorities for PIC so as to support its growth, impact and visibility/brand.
• Relationship Building and Public Facing: Strong focus on relationship and partnership building with other groups in the philanthropic and social impact sectors and representing PIC publicly at events and in different forums.
• Fundraising: Fundraising from outside and from within the sector in accordance with PIC’s principles and values to ensure its sustainability.
• Supporting Circles, Campaigns and Members: Support different circles and working groups within PIC by supporting the creation of work plans, monitoring progress, undertaking research, offering guidance, supporting Collective members and supporting the successful launch of campaigns. This includes the coordination and leadership of PIC’s different campaigns and initiatives, including divestment, investment, community safety and media bias.
• Administration, Events and Membership: Overseeing all administrative aspects of the Collective, including communications, engaging members, event planning and coordination, and recruitment and outreach to new members.

• Demonstrated commitment towards supporting Palestinian liberation and decolonization and a track record centring Palestinian and Indigenous voices.
• Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion and anti-oppression. Ability to forge relationships with equity seeking groups on Turtle Island. Strong understanding of intersectional liberatory politics.
• Demonstrated knowledge or experience working in the Canadian non profit, charitable, foundation, and/or social finance sector is an asset.
• Experience in a leadership role within a growing non profit or community organization, paid or unpaid.
• Ability to work independently and effectively remotely, as well as collaborate with people across age, ethno-racial, gender and sectoral differences.
• Strong sense of responsibility and commitment to meeting self set deadlines.
• Strong proactivity and ability to set and manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
• Comfort with public speaking and strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
• Adaptability with different online platforms and software usage; experience with doing website updates is an asset.
