Expert Fundraiser - Major Gifts

Become a key player in fundraising with the Canadian Opera Company as a Senior Development Officer, specializing in Major Gifts within a dynamic hybrid setting.

This role focuses on acquiring high-capacity donors who are new to the COC, blending strategic cultivation with donor relationship management. As you report to the Director of Major Gifts, you’ll harness your deep industry experience to inspire commitment to the COC’s mission and develop a new generation of opera supporters. You will also mentor junior staff in effective fundraising strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify and solicit new major donors for COC

• Design compelling engagement and cultivation strategies

• Build visibility in philanthropic and corporate sectors

• Manage existing major donor relationships with care

• Prepare customized proposals and impact communications

Requirements:

• Extensive experience in major gifts fundraising

• Established connections in the philanthropic community

• Strong mentorship capabilities for emerging fundraisers

• Proficient in developing multi-stage cultivation plans

• Familiarity with donor relation software such as Tessitura
