Registered Nurse - Forensic Secure Unit B
We are seeking a part‑time, permanent Registered Nurse to work in Forensic Secure Unit B (FSUB) within the Complex Care and Recovery Program. The role is located at the Queen Street Site and involves shift rotation and weekend work.
Key Responsibilities- Provide client‑centred psychiatric and general nursing care to forensic inpatients under the jurisdiction of the Ontario Review Board (ORB).
- Perform assessments, develop, implement and evaluate an inter‑professional plan of client care, and prepare ORB reports.
- Ensure safety and security of the client care environment and practice in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario, Canadian Standards for Psychiatric‑Mental Health Nursing and CAMH Practice Model of Care.
- Coordinate care through liaison with program services and community agencies.
- Contribute to program development, unit safety, risk management activities, educational support, and research activities.
- Provide supervision to student nurses and facilitate therapeutic groups when needed.
- Member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Current CPR (B.C.L.S.) certification.
- Experience with forensic nursing, risk assessment, crisis prevention/intervention and trauma‑informed care.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work with diverse cultural and social backgrounds.
- Computer literacy; bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language is an asset.
- Preference for candidates pursuing or holding a
B.Sc.N. and CNA certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing.
This part‑time, permanent position is a 0.5 commitment, which may be subject to change per the Collective Agreement. Additional hours may be available based on operational needs.
