Join the General Internal Medicine and Cardiology Unit at Mount Sinai Hospital on South, where you will contribute valuable skills and broaden your experience in managing a diverse patient group, consisting of adults with acute and complex medical and cardiac conditions, admitted from the Emergency Room, transferring from Critical Care or Coronary Care units, or recovering from cardiac procedures like angioplasty and pacemaker procedures.

About the South General Internal Medicine & Cardiology Unit
We are a
-bed unit with a mix of General Internal Medicine and Cardiology patients primarily requiring medical management for their acute illness that include congested heart failure, pneumonia, COPD, cancer and related complications, gastro-intestinal and other disorders. Our nurses work within an inter-professional team structure and maintain optimal nurse-to-patient ratios across shifts.
In this role you will:
Provide direct patient and family centered care for general internal medicine and cardiology patientsComplete physical assessments on patientsAdminister medications and provide any necessary care (wound care, IV insertion and management, monitoring drains, prepare patients for procedures, etc.)Attend nursing rounds and safety huddles, and participate in patient/family meetingsCollaborate within a multidisciplinary team, including doctors, pharmacists, social workers, clinical nurse specialists, etc.Apply a broad range of nursing skills including (but not exclusive to) CADD pumps, nephrostomy tubes, complex wounds, central lines, enteral feeding tubes, TPN, CIWA monitoring, managing a Code Blue, and chemotherapyPerform other duties consistent with the job classification, as requiredJob Requirements
Job Requirements:
Mandatory
Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of OntarioGraduate of a CNO-approved practical nursing program.Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)Preferred
2 years of recent acute care clinical experienceSkills & Knowledge
