Our recently redeveloped facility provides a unique opportunity to develop specialized technical skills related to surgical procedures, instrumentation, and equipment.

About this team:
More than , patients undergo surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital every year. We are experts in and globally recognized for our specialized Cancer, Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Orthopedic Surgery programs. Specialties utilizing the Main Operating Room/Cysto are General Surgery, Urology, Gynaecology, Otolaryngology, Lasers, Ophthalmology, Oral Surgery and Orthopaedics - both Reconstructive and Sarcoma. The Main Operating Room has 3 state-of-the-art Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) suites.
This team has sponsorship opportunities available for nurses interested in obtaining OR certification. A unique staff recognition and appreciation program F.R.O.G. In this role you will:
Perform the duties of the scrub nursePerform other duties consistent with the job classification as assignedPerform nursing interventions within the RPN scope of practiceContribute to the patient assessment processImplement patients’ plan of care including but not limited to performing and/or providing assistance for a defined range of strategies and surgical interventionsCollaborate with other members of intraprofessional and interdisciplinary health care team.Act as a patient advocateContribute to the smooth functioning and efficiency of the unitParticipate in professional development and continuing education and engages in self-reflection to facilitate personal and professional growthWork in compliance with Occupational Health & Safety ActPerform other duties consistent with the job classification as requiredJob Requirements
Job Requirements:
Mandatory
Currently registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)1 year of experience in a Perioperative settingGraduate of a CNO-approved Practical Nursing (PN) program. Equivalent combined education and experience will be consideredSuccessful completion of a post diploma Perioperative Nursing Certificate programCurrent Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certificationPreferred
Experience using an electronic health recordsSkills and Knowledge
