Reports to: Nurse Manager
Hours: Various
Wage Range: Non‑negotiable start rate in accordance with collective agreement
Shifts: Various
Status: Permanent Full Time, Permanent Part Time

Position Summary

As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, the Registered Nurse practices in accordance with relevant legislation and standards, the UHN Professional Practice Model and the mission and vision of nursing at UHN to provide compassionate, collaborative and competent care, while meeting the legal and ethical requirements of the profession.

Duties
  • Apply nursing science, theory, skill and critical decision‑making to provide compassionate, collaborative and competent care in accordance with the UHN Professional Practice Model for Nursing.
  • Ensure practice is consistent with professional standards and the ethical framework of the College of Nurses of Ontario and UHN policy.
  • Participate in continuing education to meet patient needs and professional standards.
  • Perform reflective practice, analyze and evaluate nursing knowledge, and modify practice to improve quality of care.
  • Perform cross‑functional and other responsibilities as assigned or requested.
  • Commit to Primary Nursing Care as the care delivery model.
Qualifications
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) program required.
  • Clinical experience in cancer care is an asset.
  • De Souza or ONS Chemotherapy certification required (at hire or within 6 months).
  • Blood and marrow transplant experience preferred.
  • Oncology certification with CNA preferred or commitment to obtain certification.
  • Strong crisis intervention/problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build cooperative relationships with interdisciplinary and direct care team members.
  • Commitment to team building and a patient‑focused care model.
  • Ability to function independently.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the nursing process in planning, implementing and evaluating patient care.
  • Leadership and organizational decision‑making skills.
  • Commitment to self‑directed learning.
  • Oncology certification preferred.
