University Health Network (UHN) is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner for the Krembil Brain Institute, primarily serving our inpatient neurosurgical/spine units. The NP will work autonomously to formulate clinical decisions, manage spine surgery patients, and support the broader neurosciences program. The role also includes leadership in improving patient care, staff education, and knowledge development.
Responsibilities- Collect and interpret patient data.
- Determine diagnoses and manage complex patient responses.
- Lead quality improvement and administrative initiatives.
- Participate in policy and procedure development; conduct research activities.
- Deliver, coordinate, and participate in education and professional development programs.
- Develop and strengthen the nursing profession.
- Act as a resource and consultant within the professional community and other agencies.
- Perform other duties consistent with the job classification as required.
- Master’s Degree in Nursing – Nurse Practitioner (NP) Adult or Primary Care stream.
- Current Certificate of Competence with College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Three to five years of acute‑care nursing experience in neurosurgery, spine, oncology, neuro‑interventional, or neurology patients.
- Familiarity with spinal and neurosurgical conditions preferred.
- Canadian Nurses Association certification in Neuroscience Nursing an asset.
- Experience in nursing research methodology.
- Eligibility for or current cross‑appointment to an academic institution.
- Membership in the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO) and other relevant organizations an asset.
- Excellent decision‑making, problem recognition, and problem‑solving skills.
- Effective interpersonal and customer‑service skills.
- Excellent organization and time‑management skills.
- Excellent negotiation and conflict‑resolution skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
