Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Toronto General Hospital is seeking experienced Registered Nurses to join its Operating Room (OR) team. The OR consists of 21 theatre rooms and supports a wide range of surgical services including cardiovascular, thoracic, general surgery, gynecology oncology, urology, head & neck and plastics. The position is available for permanent full‑time work with rotating shifts (days, evenings, nights and weekends).

The Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality peri‑operative nursing care along with patient and family‑centered support. Responsibilities include documenting care, collaborating with the multidisciplinary team, and ensuring compliance with UHN Professional Practice Model and regulatory standards.

• Apply knowledge of nursing science and critical decision-making to deliver compassionate, collaborative, and competent care.
• Ensure practice aligns with professional standards and the ethical framework of the College of Nurses of Ontario and UHN policy.
• Demonstrate commitment to lifelong learning through continuing education activities.
• Perform reflective practice, evaluating and modifying nursing knowledge to enhance patient care quality.
• Perform cross‑functional duties and other responsibilities as assigned.

• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Completion of an accredited Operating Room (Perioperative) course.
• 2–4 years of current OR experience.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) certification.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• Excellent time‑management, initiative, judgment, multi‑tasking, decision‑making, and problem‑solving abilities.
• B.Sc.N. preferred.
