Position Summary Clinical Nurse Educator, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

Your goal in this position is to provide professional practice leadership that fosters excellence in neonatal nursing education, evidence-informed practice, and family-centred care within a Level 2C Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Working collaboratively with the Director of Interprofessional Practice & Education, Director of Maternal Newborn, Paediatrics and Clinical Genetics, operational leadership, physicians, and the interdisciplinary team, you will support the development of a high-performing clinical team dedicated to delivering safe, high-quality care to newborns and their families.

You will be responsible for advancing neonatal nursing practice through education, competency development, quality improvement initiatives, simulation-based learning, policy development, and implementation of evidence-informed best practices. You will promote a culture of continuous learning, professional accountability, and innovation while supporting staff in maintaining clinical competence and delivering exceptional patient and family experiences. As a clinical expert in neonatal nursing, you will serve as a mentor, coach, consultant, and educational resource for nursing staff and the interdisciplinary team.

You will collaborate with other Clinical Nurse Educators across the organization to promote patient- and family-centred care, participate in clinically relevant research, and develop, implement, and evaluate educational programs that support excellence in neonatal care. You possess expert knowledge of neonatal nursing practice, developmental and family-integrated care, neonatal stabilization, and Level 2C NICU standards. You demonstrate exceptional interpersonal, communication, organizational, and project management skills, with the ability to foster collaborative relationships across disciplines and lead practice change initiatives.

This position supports the hospital's academic mandate by advancing care through teaching, learning, research, quality improvement, and innovation. The Clinical Nurse Educator contributes to the organization's shared responsibility for maintaining a safe, healthy, and respectful environment for patients, families, staff, physicians, learners, volunteers, and visitors.
