We are seeking Registered Nurses to join unit 8B (Blood and Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapy Program) on a full-time permanent basis to provide family-centered nursing care to children along the continuum of care.

In this role, you will assess complex nursing needs and provide well-rounded care to support children and families as they experience acute and chronic illnesses. What is 8B?
8B is a 17-bed inpatient unit. It is the only Pediatric BMT/Cellular Therapy Program servicing all of Ontario as well as the Atlantic Provinces. We serve a uniquely complex population of patients and families challenged with life-altering acute and chronic illnesses that require focused and highly skilled management along a continuum of health services both in Hospital and in the community.

Here’s What You’ll Get To Do On 8B

Nurses on 8B will learn and develop a valued skillset foundational to practice in acute care clinical settings:

Management of complex intravenous and pharmacological therapies

Administration of Hematopoietic Stem Cell and Cellular therapy products including but not limited to bone marrow, CORD transplants and CAR T cells and recognition of adverse reactions during infusion

Administration of Chemotherapy/Biotherapy

Management of post-transplant immunosuppression and rehabilitation

Central Venous Access Device care, maintenance and trouble shooting

Administration of blood products, oxygen therapy, enteral and parenteral nutrition

Recognition and management of post-transplant complications

Management of care across the phases of the illness continuum, including palliative and end-of-life care

Navigation of complex psychosocial dynamics and care challenges related to life-threatening illness and its treatment

Involvement in new and innovative therapies and clinical trials
