The Emergency Department provides Registered Practical Nurses a unique opportunity to grow and utilize their skills. The MGH Emergency Department provides care for over 90,000 annually and takes pride in serving East Toronto’s diverse population. This dynamic, community oriented program has a team who are committed to learning and providing excellent patient care. • Applying knowledge of nursing science, process, and clinical judgment in the provision of safe, competent, compassionate, evidence-informed and patient-centered quality care.

• Working to your full scope of practice while collaborating and consulting with the Registered Nurse and other members of the health care team.

• Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario and in good standing.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification required.
• PEARS (Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization) preferred.

• Minimum of 1 year recent ER nursing experience required.
• Previous pediatric experience required.
• Recent clinical experience and/or practicum experience in an Emergency Department is considered an asset.
• 1 year of recent medical/surgical experience an asset.
• Mental health experience an asset.
• Recent experience with management of central venous access devices is considered an asset.
• Recent experience with paediatric population is considered an asset.
• Familiar with oxygen administration, ECG completion, simple sterile dressings, intermittent catheterization, NG tube insertion and application of basic orthopedic devices.
• Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication.
