Peri-Anesthesia Registered Nurse

Deliver post-operative patient care as a Registered Nurse, applying assessment and critical thinking across phase one and two recovery. Work within Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre’s peri-anaesthesia environment.

This Registered Nurse provides primary care for post-operative patients during phase one and two recovery. The position requires recent post-surgical, Critical Care, or PACU experience. Patient education, advocacy, infection prevention, and Person Centered Care support care aligned with professional standards and Sunnybrook’s mission, vision, and values.

• Assess post-operative patients throughout phase one and two recovery
• Provide interventions for patients requiring post-surgical care
• Educate patients according to identified care needs
• Advocate for patients using Person Centered Care principles
• Promote patient flow throughout the peri-anaesthesia environment

• At least two years of recent post-surgical care experience
• Recent Critical Care or PACU experience
• Required Critical Care Course, venipuncture, and IV Certification
• Current Ontario Registration and current BCLS
• Knowledge of infection prevention and control best practices
