PACU Registered Nurse Postoperative Care

Apply critical thinking and PACU expertise as a Registered Nurse providing phase 1 and 2 postoperative recovery care. Work within Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre’s Peri-Anesthesia environment.

This PACU Registered Nurse provides primary care for postoperative patients while supporting Person-Centred Care. The practice includes assessment, intervention, education, and patient advocacy. The nurse works with an interdisciplinary team and follows College of Nurses of Ontario and Ontario Peri-Anesthesia Nurse Association standards.

• Provide primary care during phase 1 and 2 recovery
• Assess postoperative patients and deliver appropriate interventions
• Educate patients and advocate for their care needs
• Support Person-Centred Care philosophy and organizational values
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members throughout patient care

• Minimum two years recent post-surgical care experience
• Recent Critical Care or PACU experience
• Required Critical Care Course, venipuncture, and IV certification
• Current Ontario Registration and current BCLS
• Ability to apply critical thinking in stressful environments
