Critical Care Resident Western

Provide critical care coverage at Toronto Western Hospital using ICU assessment and resuscitation skills during resident on-call shifts. Respond to urgent patient-care needs.
This Critical Care Resident assignment fills gaps in resident on-call coverage. Residents manage consultations, admissions, deteriorating patients, and communication with the ICU fellow. Duties include invasive line placement, pharmacological and mechanical support, signout updates, and weekend ICU rounds. At least one ICU rotation is required, preferably at the Toronto Western Hospital ICU site.

Key Responsibilities:

Take signover at scheduled weekday and weekend times
Respond to nursing, ward, emergency, operating room, and PACU requests
Resuscitate newly admitted and deteriorating patients
Place invasive lines and initiate patient supports
Update signout lists and participate in ICU rounds
Requirements:
Complete at least one ICU rotation
Hold ACLS certification
Access the UHN-EPR computer system
Experience using Clinical Message
Communicate closely with the on-call ICU fellow
Apply critical care, resuscitation, and consultation skills as a Toronto Western Hospital resident providing supervised ICU coverage.
