This full-time, on-site Occupational Health and Safety Specialist role is based in Toronto, ON. The specialist will develop, implement, and monitor health and safety programs across bakery production and retail operations, ensuring compliance with applicable occupational health and safety regulations and company standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting workplace inspections and risk assessments, investigating incidents and near-misses, maintaining safety documentation, and recommending corrective actions.

The role will design and deliver safety training, support managers and supervisors in applying safe work practices, and collaborate with operations, HR, and leadership to promote a strong safety culture. The specialist will also analyze safety data, prepare reports, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to worker wellbeing and regulatory compliance.

• Strong Health & Safety and Occupational Health knowledge, with experience applying regulations and standards in manufacturing or food production environments.
• Environment Health and Safety (EHS) and Workplace Safety expertise, including risk assessment, hazard control, and compliance monitoring.
• Experience planning and delivering Safety Training, toolbox talks, and safety orientations for diverse teams.
• Relevant post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field; professional certifications (e.g., CRSP or equivalent) are an asset.
• Proven ability to conduct investigations, analyze safety data, and prepare clear reports and recommendations.
• Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate at all organizational levels.
• Knowledge of Ontario health and safety legislation (e.g., OHSA and related regulations) and experience working with regulatory bodies or audits.
• Attention to detail, organizational skills, and a proactive approach to identifying issues and driving continuous improvement.
