We operate at the intersection of multifamily leasing, fintech and identity verification — which means our quality bar is not negotiable. A missed edge case in IDV isn't a cosmetic bug; it's a failed application, a mispriced risk decision, or a compliance incident. That's why this role matters.
We're hiring a QA Lead to own the quality function s is a lead IC role — you'll be hands‑on in code and test design while mentoring QA engineers and setting the standard for how we think about quality across the org.
The Lead QA Engineer owns two things in equal measure:- Technical quality — the automated test frameworks, integration coverage, and CI/CD quality gates that let us ship fast without breaking customer trust.
- Business quality — test cases that reflect how property managers, lenders, and underwriters actually use the platform, and that catch decisioning, workflow, and compliance issues before customers do.
The Lead QA Engineer is a key owner of our customers’ experience. Your core focus is cataloging every essential user journey and ensuring at least 90% coverage via test cases that inform our TDD process.
We believe in clear ownership: product engineers own unit tests, while you own the ecosystem—integration, contract, E2E, and regression. You’ll be responsible for proving the platform works exactly how our customers use it every day.
As the lead for this function, you will also own the QA OKRs, tracking the metrics that matter: journey coverage, defect escape rate, release confidence, and business‑logic integrity.
What You’ll Own- Automated test strategy — the frameworks, patterns, and coverage model for integration, contract, E2E, and regression testing across our platform.
- Client user journey coverage — identifying, cataloging, and maintaining 90%+ coverage of real client user journeys across the platform, and partnering with engineering to drive test‑driven development from those cataloged journeys and test cases.
- Integration testing across partner APIs — document verification, credit bureaus, bank/income connections, and background screening providers are mission‑critical and change frequently.
- Business‑oriented test design — translating real customer workflows (leasing applications, underwriting decisions, IDV flows) into test cases that catch business logic failures, not just technical ones.
- Release quality gates and CI/CD integration — making sure the right tests run at the right time, with fast feedback and low flakiness.
- QA OKRs — setting, tracking, and reporting on objectives that tie quality work to business outcomes.
- Mentorship — leveling up QA engineers on technical skills, domain knowledge, and test thinking.
- Quality culture — partnering with engineering, product, design, and operations so quality is a shared responsibility, not a bottleneck.
- Design and evolve our automated testing strategy across frontend (Playwright), API (Postman / REST‑assured or similar), and integration layers — above the unit test level.
- Build and maintain the catalog of client user journeys — end‑to‑end workflows for property managers, lenders, brokers, underwriters, and renters — and translate them into a living test case library that drives test‑driven development across engineering.
- Drive 90%+ coverage of identified client journeys through automated test cases, test data seeding, and radiate test coverage metrics for transparency and alignment.
- Build and own regression suites that give engineers confidence to ship daily.
- Collaborate with product managers to turn acceptance criteria into executable tests — and push back when ACs aren’t testable.
- Partner with engineering leads to instrument observability and test hooks where needed, so we can catch issues in production as well as pre‑release.
- Own the triage and root‑cause process for escaped defects — including workflow‑level and decisioning issues reported by customers.
- Drive test coverage for high‑risk domains: IDV workflows, credit/criminal/eviction screening accuracy, financial scoring and profiling, automated decisioning logic, compliance scenarios (FCRA, AA, SOC 2, etc), and multi‑party integration flows.
- Mentor QA engineers through code review,…
