We proudly operate four production facilities across Ontario and Quebec, producing a wide range of high-quality food products including rice, pulses, spices, nuts, and canned goods.

We have an opportunity for a QA Tech at our pulse plant located in Scarborough, ON.

THIS IS A NIGHT SHIFT POSITION 10 PM TO 6 AM
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform routine quality checks on canned products, ingredients, packaging materials, and finished goods to ensure compliance with company standards, customer requirements, and food safety regulations.

Monitor production processes, including filling, sealing, coding, labeling, retorting, cooling, and packaging activities.

Conduct inspections related to can seams, vacuum, headspace, net weight, product appearance, temperature, and other critical quality parameters.

Support thermal processing and retort record review to ensure proper documentation and compliance with scheduled processes.

Verify sanitation, GMP, allergen control, and food safety practices on the production floor.

Collect samples for internal testing, micro testing, retention, customer requirements, and shelf‑life monitoring.

Complete and maintain accurate QA records, including inspection reports, non‑conformance reports, hold/release documentation, and corrective action records.

Identify quality or food safety issues and communicate concerns promptly to production, maintenance, sanitation, and QA leadership.

Assist with investigations related to product defects, customer complaints, foreign material, process deviations, and non‑conforming product.

Support HACCP, SQF, CFIA, organic, kosher, customer audit, and regulatory compliance requirements.

Participate in internal audits, pre‑operational inspections, environmental monitoring, and plant inspections.

Place products on hold when required and assist with product disposition, rework, or release decisions under QA supervision.

Monitor employee compliance with GMPs, hygiene, PPE, and food safety procedures.

Support continuous improvement initiatives related to quality, food safety, documentation accuracy, and production efficiency.

Work closely with production teams to promote a strong food safety and quality culture within the canning plant.

COMPETENCIES

Dynamic, organized and able to proactively improve overall QA program.

Have good interpersonal skills to motivate and train staff.

Be able to multitask and work under pressure.

Have good knowledge of computers – MS Office, Internet – ERP an asset.

Have good knowledge of GMP, HACCP – GFSI (SQF) an asset.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Over 1 year of food quality and safety experience, GMP, Cleaning & sanitation & equipment verification.

Over 1 year’s experience in food plant CCP, quality and safety operational monitoring.

Mandatory working knowledge of food safety, Health & Safety, HACCP and GMP would be an asset.

Must have quality & food safety plant level experience.
