Our Property Tax group, within the Indirect Tax practice, is a leader in the global commercial real estate (CRE) industry. Our dedicated team focuses on helping clients optimize cash flow and mitigate risk by addressing the intricacies of property assessment and taxation. You will play a key role in supporting our clients in relation to both regional and national projects, as well as value-added tax projects associated with property assessment and taxation.

Your expertise will be called upon to critically review and evaluate property tax appeal positions, offering informed recommendations and adeptly managing the appeal process in accordance with the firm's rigorous policies, standards, and guidelines.

As a Property Tax Manager, you’ll:
  • Work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution.
  • Lead in delivering strategic property tax advisory services, ensuring clients navigate the complexities of tax obligations with expertise.
  • Manage client relationships, oversee appeal processes, and conduct in-depth research and analysis to provide innovative solutions.
  • Monitor market trends and legislative changes, ensuring our clients are well-informed and can maximize tax recovery potential through all available programs and incentives.
  • Experience and skills you’ll use to solve:
    • Established experience with property assessment valuation practices, property tax consulting, and advisory services.
    • A post-secondary degree in fields like real property valuation, assessment, real estate, urban studies, economics, finance, or law.
    • Completion of a Real Property Assessment Certificate or equivalent professional designation (e.g., MIMA, AACI, CAE, MRICS, FRICS).
    • People management, relationship building, and leadership skills.
    • Strong research skills and familiarity with valuation methodologies and taxation principles.
    • Understanding of legislative rules governing property assessments and taxes.
    • Entrepreneurial spirit and desire to build new business and operational efficiency.
    • Ability to collaborate across teams and with other Lines of Service within the firm.
    • Commitment to continuous learning, mentorship, and team development.
