Research Ethics Coordinator - Research Operations and Support Services

Overview

Reporting to the Manager, Research Ethics, CAMH is seeking a full-time, permanent Research Ethics Coordinator to support the Research Ethics Office. The role will manage documentation and information flow related to research ethics review and ensure that all research involving human participants meets current ethical and regulatory standards for the protection of human research participants.

• Serve as a primary resource on regulatory, policy and compliance matters for researchers and the Research Ethics Board (REB).
• Ensure conduct and review of research studies align with required processes and procedures to facilitate compliance with local and international regulations and institutional policies.
• Manage documentation related to project review, post-approval monitoring, and lifecycle of the research project; support ethical review procedures in a timely fashion.
• Act as a liaison between the Research Ethics Office and the research community; communicate with investigators; assist research staff with REB submission preparation; provide information to REB members to perform reviews.
• Support development of educational resources to promote institutional compliance and assist in developing new policies and procedures to improve ethics review processes.
• Contribute to a healthy, diverse workplace, promote teamwork and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.

• Bachelor’s Degree in a Life Science.
• A post-graduate certificate and/or certification in clinical research is an asset.
• Three (3) years of experience in research ethics required; familiarity with biomedical research ethics preferred.
• Understanding of current human participant research regulations including Health Canada, FDA, EU regulations and guidelines, ICH-GCP policies; knowledge of local and national privacy regulations.
• Strong understanding of clinical research methodologies; knowledge in psychiatric research preferred.
• Ability to conduct critical analyses of scientific and ethical proposals and to provide guidance on research ethics compliance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, judgment, tact and diplomacy to work with diverse teams.
• Initiative, independence, organization and productivity; strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Access, SharePoint).
• Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve mutual goals.
• Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language is an asset.

• Hiring Salary Range: $76,527.35 – $95,659.19 per year (based on qualifications and experience)
• Full Salary Range: $76,527.35 – $ per year (reflecting potential growth within the role)
