Position: Research Assistant (Neurodiversity and Personalized Health Lab)
Description
We are seeking a Research Assistant (RA) to support research studies at the Neurodiversity and Personalized Health Lab within the Bloorview Research Institute. The RA will work closely with Principal Investigators, Research Managers, and interdisciplinary research teams to support the day-to-day execution of research protocols. This role is ideal for a highly organized individual with strong communication skills and an interest in pediatric, clinical, or technology-based research.
The successful candidate will contribute to participant recruitment, data collection and management, regulatory documentation, and knowledge translation activities, while ensuring that research activities are conducted in compliance with institutional, ethical, and regulatory requirements. The RA must demonstrate the ability to manage multiple responsibilities, handle confidential information with discretion, and work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment.
Key Responsibilities
Support research studies involving wearable devices, sensors, mobile applications, digital health platforms used for data collection, and other studies, including recruitment, scheduling, participant communications, and preparing study materialsCollect, code, enter, verify, and clean quantitative and qualitative research data, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and data integrityMaintain accurate research records, including device logs, consent forms, and study bindersConduct literature searchesAssist with REB submissions, renewals, amendments, and required reportingAssist in administrative tasks related to grant applications and manuscript preparationReport to the Principal Investigator and Research Manager, contribute to team meetings, ongoing project support, and assist with research and related administrative tasks as requiredMinimum Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Post-secondary degree in sciences, social sciences, health sciences, or a related disciplineExperience with technology-enabled or data-focused research is an assetFamiliarity with wearable devices, sensors, or digital health tools preferredExperience with data entry, validation, and basic data management practicesUnderstanding of research ethics, privacy, and data governanceStrong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlinesEffective written and verbal communication skillsAttention to detail and demonstrated ability to maintain accurate and well-organized research documentationProficiency with Microsoft Office applications, internet-based research tools, and ability to learn new software toolsStrong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively within interdisciplinary teamsComfort working with children, youth, and families, including individuals with disabilities, in a respectful and inclusive manner
