Your OpportunityThe Government of Canada has negotiated with the European Commission to join Horizon Europe as an associate country, allowing Canadians to apply for Horizon Europe funding. With a €95.5 billion funding envelope for 2021‑2027, Horizon Europe is the world’s largest research & innovation funding program. Working within the Research Services Office (RSO), you will work closely with faculty members and research administrators to enhance the University’s participation in international research funding programs and to maximize the share of funding awarded to researchers.
As the Research Development & Partnerships Officer reporting to the Assistant Director, International Research, you will play a key role in the University’s growth and success in Horizon Europe funding programs. You are expected to have an innovative and entrepreneurial focus, and experience preparing funding applications. You will initiate and steward collaborative relationships with professional associations, funding agencies, and private, public and non‑profit stakeholder organizations.
You will work to secure external funding and settle partnership agreements, including the establishment of consortia. You will support funding proposal development by helping applicants identify the most suitable funding calls for their research goals, generating resources (e.g., tip sheets, templates), and reviewing proposals to ensure alignment with sponsor criteria. You will guide applicants through the research funding application process, deliver presentations to promote programs and initiatives and produce detailed statistical analyses of funding competition results.
Responsibilities will include:
- Researching and recommending new opportunities for external collaborations and partnerships
- Developing project schedules including milestones, critical path, timelines, deliverables and reporting
- Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
- Disseminating information regarding research funding programs and opportunities to the research community
- Coordinating and guiding applicants through various phases of the research funding application process
- Promoting the University’s research capabilities to industrial, governmental and finance sectors to enhance research and innovation funding opportunities
- Providing detailed information on funding program administrative practices and procedures
- Advising on research application content
- Master’s Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
