The Department of Classics at the University of Toronto is seeking to appoint someone to a two-year postdoctoral research fellowship working in Post-Classical Ancient Greek / Latin Philosophy
, to begin on 1st September, 2026. The successful candidate will pursue their own programme of research, but will also be available for up to 5 hours per week of research and administrative assistance to George Boys-Stones. The Fellowship comes with a salary of CA $65,000 per annum. (Should the minimum rates stipulated in the collective agreement fall below the rates stated in this posting, the minimum rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.)
Opportunities for teaching may be available.
To be eligible, you must have received a PhD in a relevant field (from any Department or Programme), or have fulfilled all conditions for conferral (including final approval of any post-viva corrections), before the deadline, and not previously have held any postdoctoral research position.
The normal hours of work are 40 hours per week for a full-time postdoctoral fellow (pro-rated for those holding a partial appointment) recognizing that the needs of the employee’s research and professional development and the needs of the supervisor’s research program may require flexibility in the performance of the employee’s duties and hours of work. Employment as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Toronto is covered by the terms of the CUPE 3902 Unit 5 Collective Agreement.
