Position: BBDC Pilot Grants for Innovative Research
Pursue funding for revolutionary diabetes research with the Novo Nordisk BBDC Pilot and Feasibility Grants. Up to $40,000 is available for projects that introduce entirely new ideas into the diabetes research landscape.
Applications are now open for the 2026/2027 funding cycle aimed at fostering original diabetes research at the University of Toronto. Candidates must demonstrate that their project is a departure from current research trajectories. This call is particularly open to innovative approaches promising fresh insights into diabetes pathology and treatment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Propose a unique initiative in diabetes research

• Conduct all research at the University of Toronto or its affiliates

• Research projects must start by July 1, 2026
Requirements:

• Must be a faculty member at the University of Toronto

• Cannot have received a BBDC grant as principal investigator

• Investigate new or unrelated diabetes topics

• Open to new faculty members or investigators transitioning fields

• Ethical credentials required before grant commencement
