Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the Global Brand & Client Insights department across the Scotiabank Group of Companies on Canadian and international mandates, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed to support the team’s business strategies and objectives while ensuring compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and drive a customer‑focused culture throughout the team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Develop and execute all aspects of market research for stakeholders across the Scotiabank Group of Companies, including:
    • Working with business line stakeholders to understand purpose and research needs.
    • Designing end‑to‑end research projects (e.g., developing research proposals, research plans, methodology, target, quotas, timing).
    • Delivering end‑to‑end research projects leveraging in‑house tools and resources.
    • Identifying and managing vendor relationships with high‑quality partners (full‑service, fielding, panel, etc.).
    • Leveraging project‑management principles to keep projects on time and within budget.
    • Showcasing and advocating for research strategy and insights through GBCI Hub, town halls, Global Marketing shares, etc.
  • Direct and deliver research strategy & insights by:
    • Establishing a cohesive network of relationships with vendors to ensure insights meet business needs.
    • Providing direction on the use of the most effective and innovative market‑research analytical techniques.
    • Coordinating, analyzing, and presenting research data, including insights from multiple sources, and advising stakeholders or senior management on the best actions.
    • Creating and maintaining a network of professionals to share learning.
  • Provide relationship‑management support for various business lines by fostering trust with internal stakeholders, including key senior leaders, and delivering insights consultatively during strategy, ideation, and execution phases.
  • Champion a high‑performance environment and demonstrate a commitment to Scotiabank’s values (Client‑Centric, Integrity, Inclusion, Accountability) and behavioural competencies.
  • Communicate and model risk culture and risk‑appetite statements consistently across the team.
  • Ensure adequate operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct‑risk controls are in place.
  • Build an inclusive, high‑performance team culture through a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates staff, using a coaching mindset and effective succession and development planning.
Qualifications
  • Advanced experience (7+ years) in market research.
  • Thorough understanding of the end‑to‑end process of quantitative and qualitative research.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical research specifications.
  • Extensive knowledge of multi‑variant statistical techniques.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within cross‑functional teams.
  • Superior organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proven project‑management skills, balancing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Expert knowledge of SPSS, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Qualtrics and Medallia (assets).
  • Aware of emerging market‑research techniques.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce, mathematics, computer science, or related field.
  • Market Research certificate program (asset).
  • Specialized qualitative training, Qualitative Research Associate designation (asset).
Working Conditions
  • Standard office‑based environment; non‑standard hours may occur.
  • Limited travel.
