Research Laboratory Manager - Institute Mental Health Policy Research
Overview
The Institute for Mental Health Policy Research (IMHPR) is currently recruiting a full‑time, 12‑month Contract Research Lab Manager to support on‑going research activities. The Lab Manager will report to the Principal Investigator, and work in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team including scientists, researchers, research staff and clinicians. They will oversee all lab operations in support of grant applications and real‑world implementation studies focused on improving access to brief, evidence‑based psychotherapies for depression, anxiety and trauma, with a special emphasis on women’s mental health.
Responsibilities- Collaborating with study investigators and internal and external stakeholders
- Managing all aspects of human resources including recruitment, hiring, training, and daily supervision/mentorship of staff and trainees
- Providing fiscal management and supporting the reporting obligations associated with each grant
- Monitoring key project specific performance indicators, including, but not limited to, participant recruitment and enrollment
- Coordinating and facilitating current and new research projects, including study start‑up procedures as well as overseeing and managing research and regulated trials, including multi‑site projects and projects within the community
- Assisting in writing and/or submission of new grants, manuscripts, reports, conference presentations and REB submissions
- Reviewing and revising existing lab standard operating procedures for continual improvement
- Adhering to and meeting REB and regulatory requirements
- Other tasks as required
- Bachelor’s degree in an applicable science or health sciences discipline
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a research or laboratory setting with progressively increasing responsibility
- Experience supporting research operations, including administrative coordination and compliance activities is required
- Experience supervising multidisciplinary research teams, including supervising research staff or project teams, is required
- Experience in supporting, preparing and submitting large, multi‑site grant applications (e.g., PCORI, CIHR), as well as preparing and managing project budgets
- Proven track record of coordinating large clinical studies, focused on psychotherapy and health services
- Ability to work accurately and effectively in a fast‑paced environment
- Self‑directed with an ability to make decisions and to exercise good judgement
- Familiarity with Canadian and U.S. research funding environments
- Experience working in mental health research settings
- Knowledge of research ethics, regulatory requirements, and responsible conduct of research
- Strong organizational, analytical, and decision‑making skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline‑driven environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Salary is competitive and based on experience, with a hiring range of $91,758.17 – $ per year
- Employees in this role may progress within the full pay range of $91,758.17 – $ per year
