Job Description

Based in Child, Youth and Family Services,Child, Youth and Emerging Adult Program, the donor funded Cundill Centre for Child and Youth Depression has a focus on enhancing and improving the design, delivery and effectiveness of mental health services and policies for children, youth and families. The Cundill Centre combines evidence-based and innovative research approaches to ensure strong child, youth, family and other stakeholder voices in their initiatives.

We are seeking a full-time, contract (12 months) Program Officer to support on-going activities within the Cundill Centre. Reporting directly to the Research Operations Manager, the Program Officer will assist the Manager coordinate and provide support for Centre Research teams, including Scientists, Research Coordinators, Research Analysts and trainees. The role will also involve managing key initiatives pertaining to the research operations, including managing small projects, developing and implementing processes, training research staff and scientists on new systems, monitoring and providing and in-depth review of documentation and assisting the Manager with large scale projects.

Supporting onboarding and training of research staff (including research coordinators, research methods specialists, research analysts and research trainees).

Support of day-to-day activities of research staff and support in the assignment of responsibilities

Supporting the monitoring of key staff and research project performance indicators, and quality and safety initiatives.

Providing operational support to ongoing research projects; preparing and tracking REB submissions; tracking and reporting study milestones and sponsor deliverables.

Assisting the manager with budget forecasting, monitoring budgets, annual progress reports and preparing financial reports.

Development of Standard Operating Procedures for the Centre, in collaboration with applicable stakeholders, as necessary.

Ensuring compliance with policies across research studies.

Support with other administrative duties as necessary (including scheduling key stakeholder meetings, managing the Cundill Centre calendars and distribution lists, assisting with maintaining research training and CVs Centre scientists).

You will support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements. This position is located at 80 Workman Way.

Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language is an asset.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have an Honors Bachelor’s Degree in a related field e.g., Health Administration, Public Health, Psychology, or Neuroscience, with two (2) yearsof related professional experience in managing research projects in the field of mental health and addictions. One (1) year of operations experience is preferred. In addition, the successful candidate will possess the following skills:

Prior research or service experience with youth, young adults and/or families experiencing mental health or substance use challenges is preferred.

Excellent interpersonal skills along with the ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams including, research and clinical staff and research administrative personnel.

Highly detail-oriented with demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and good judgment and effectively work independently while supporting a fast-paced, high-functioning work environment and monitoring personal and team-level deliverables.

Well-honed time management skills with the ability to efficiently multi-task and produce high-quality, accurate work while meeting deadlines,…
