The Research Assistant supports research, data collection, analysis, and reporting for a multi-stakeholder systems change project. The role assists with environmental scans, surveys, interviews, focus groups, participant recruitment, and the preparation of research findings, reports, and project materials.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct literature reviews, environmental scans and online research.
- Support the development of surveys, interview guides, focus group questions and data collection tools.
- Recruit and communicate with research participants and stakeholders.
- Schedule and support interviews, focus groups, consultations and research meetings.
- Collect, organize and enter quantitative and qualitative data.
- Review data for accuracy, completeness and consistency.
- Analyze survey results, interview notes and consultation findings.
- Identify key themes, trends, systemic barriers and emerging practices.
- Prepare research summaries, charts, presentations, briefing notes and reports.
- Take detailed notes and document findings from meetings, interviews and focus groups.
- Maintain confidential participant records, consent forms and research files.
- Support the development oformal project tools, resources and recommendations.
- Assist with project evaluation, progress tracking and funder reporting.
- Ensure research activities follow privacy, confidentiality and ethical research requirements.
- Post-secondary education in social sciences, public policy, research, evaluation or a related field.
- One to three (1-3) years of research, data collection or project support experience.
- Experience conducting interviews, surveys, focus groups or literature reviews.
- Strong research, analytical, writing and organizational skills.
- Ability to summarize complex information clearly and accurately.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and online survey tools.
- Experience with qualitative or quantitative data analysis software is an asset.
- Experience working with diverse communities, nonprofit organizations or government-funded projects is an asset.
