Position: Biospecimen Technician at OICR
Advance cancer research as a Biospecimen Research Technician I at OICR in Toronto. This on-site, full-time role focuses on histology and molecular analysis to support diagnostic development.

OICR seeks a motivated professional for a one-year contract as a Biospecimen Research Technician I. You will join the Diagnostic Development team, contributing to various projects including sample accessioning and genomic extraction. Work will involve adhering to standard operating procedures and maintaining good clinical laboratory practices to ensure quality and integrity in research efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform sample accessioning using a laboratory information management system

• Conduct histological analysis on frozen and formalin-fixed tissues

• Extract DNA/RNA and assess sample quantity/quality

• Adhere to specified turnaround times and SOP standards

• Maintain accurate records in organizational databases

Requirements:

• Relevant undergraduate degree completed

• Recent experience with microtomy and staining

• Familiarity with histology SOPs for FFPE and frozen samples

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
