Position Summary

The Canadian Cancer Clinical Trials Network (3

CTN) is seeking a motivated student with strong digital information skills to support cancer clinical trial data management and reporting informatics activities. This role will support formative development of a national clinical trial information and system performance platform by reviewing and updating trial records, developing plain-language trial summaries as well as supporting analysis and reporting activities. Applied knowledge of artificial intelligence tools will be of value in identifying practical opportunities for digital tool and workflow improvements.

This position is temporary, full-time for four (4) months from September to December 2026.

Position Responsibilities
  • Review and update cancer trial records in the database using available source information.
  • Support improvements to data completeness, consistency, and quality across trial records.
  • Assist with preparing or editing lay summaries to make trial information easier to understand for patients, their families and public.
  • Help document common data issues, gaps, and recommended follow-up actions.
  • Conduct background scans or environmental reviews of relevant digital tools, dashboards, and clinical trial information platforms.
  • Summarize findings and provide practical recommendations to support future database development, reporting, dashboard development, communication activities, and digital workflow improvements.
  • Use advanced Excel functions, including Power Query, as well as Power BI, Git Hub, and AI/Copilot tools to support data review, analysis, documentation, automation, and reporting tasks where appropriate.
  • Support other related informatics, reporting, and portfolio management tasks as needed.
Position Requirements
  • Enrolled in a post-secondary program in health, life sciences, public health, informatics, data management, or a related field.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills, including experience with formulas, pivot tables, and Power Query for data preparation and transformation.
  • Experience with Power BI for data visualization, dashboard development, or reporting is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Git Hub for version control, documentation, collaboration, or project tracking.
  • Working knowledge of AI tools including Microsoft Copilot or similar tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately with structured information.
  • Good written communication skills, including the ability to summarize technical information in clear language.
  • Ability to work independently, ask questions when clarification is needed, and manage assigned tasks within agreed timelines.
  • Interest in clinical research and trials, cancer research, health data, and applied use of digital tools for system improvement.
