Ethical Wildlife Research Fellow Zoo

Be a part of the Toronto Zoo's mission as an Ethical Wildlife Research Fellow, focusing on Indigenous governance and wildlife science. This role is dedicated to collaborative conservation research and engagement.

In this two-year, non-permanent position, you will assist in developing ethical frameworks for the National Wildlife Cryobank. Candidates should have a recent PhD in Indigenous studies or a related field. Exceptional communication and research skills are essential for liaising with Indigenous communities and driving impactful conservation efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage research project design and execution

• Collaborate with Indigenous and scientific communities

• Train students and oversee research methodologies

• Publish significant findings in academic literature

• Secure funding for research initiatives

Requirements:

• Recent PhD in Indigenous studies or wildlife conservation

• Familiarity with Indigenous governance and ethics

• Excellent presentation and writing abilities

• Understanding of health and safety in research settings

• Availability for weekend and holiday shifts
