The RoleWe’re looking for a strategic, data-driven leader to take ownership of merchandise analytics and space optimization across all Talize locations. In this role, you drive sales performance by maximizing productivity per square foot, optimizing inventory flow, and improving gross margin and category contribution. You’ll lead with data—transforming insights into actionable strategies across floor space allocation, pricing architecture, and seasonal planning. Working cross-functionally, you bring structure and discipline to inventory and merchandising decisions, replacing guesswork with clear, results-driven execution.
Success in this role is defined by measurable financial impact, operational efficiency, and your ability to elevate commercial performance across the business.
This is primarily an onsite role based out of our office at 67 Alexdon Road, North York, ON M3J 2B5 with regular store visits across the 15-store network. The role requires full-time availability during standard business hours, with flexibility for cross-functional meetings and collaboration with Operations, Marketing, Finance, and Store Leadership.
Salary Range$80,000 - $100,000

Departmental Duties- Category & Space Optimization
- Department-level floor space allocation (% mix by Women, Men, Kids, Home, etc.)
- Subcategory mix optimization (Denim, Athletic, Dresses, etc.)
- Seasonal category shifts and floor resets (Winter → Spring, etc.)
- Store size format allocation logic.
- Identification and rebalancing of underperforming categories.
- Financial & Performance Management
- Sales per square foot modeling by category and store.
- Inventory turn strategy and improvement plans.
- Good / Better / Best pricing architecture.
- Markdown ladder and clearance cadence.
- Backstock ratio reduction strategy.
- Category contribution margin analysis.
- Quarterly category performance reviews.
- Forecast financial impact of space adjustments and markdown strategies.
- Data Analysis & Reporting
- Build and maintain advanced Excel and BI dashboards.
- Analyze sell-through, aging inventory, and SKU productivity.
- Develop reallocation models by store format.
- Recommend targeted promotions based on overstock analysis.
- Cross-Functional Leadership & Collaboration
- Partner with Visual Merchandising to implement planograms.
- Lead monthly commercial review meetings with Marketing, Operations, and Finance.
- 7+ years of retail merchandise planning, allocation, or category analytics experience.
- Proven experience optimizing sales per square foot across multi-store retail chains.
- Advanced Excel proficiency (pivot tables and modeling mandatory).
- Experience in off-price, thrift, fast-fashion, or high-SKU retail environments (e.g., Value Village, TJX, H&M, Zara, Sport Chek softlines).
- Experience with retail BI systems and inventory planning tools.
- Strong understanding of open-to-buy planning.
- Experience improving inventory turns and margin through reallocation strategies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Retail Management, or related field.
