Assistant Supermarket Manager

WAGE:
$43.27 per hour / full-time position (30 hours per week)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Our company is looking for a professional and customer-service oriented supermarket manager to help oversee daily operations at our supermarket. As assistant manager, you will be responsible for maintaining high operational and organizational standards. You will be responsible for training new staff and creating a pleasant store environment for customers and staff members. Candidates will also be expected to undertake some administrative tasks and also be asked to develop and implement business strategies to meet sales goals and improve store performance.

Our ideal candidate should be an excellent communicator and have excellent leadership skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist owner in all aspects of the management of the supermarket
Create business strategies to attract new customers, increase store traffic, and improve store profitability
Deliver excellent customer service
Motivate staff through training and mentorship
Build team relationships and lead toward common workplace goals
Hire, train, and oversee all new staff
Prepare staff work schedules
Resolve employee conflicts and ensure that any customer complaints are handled immediately
Resolve and solve customer concerns in a way that profits the store and pleases the customer
Ensure store compliance with all local health and safety regulations
Develop and present promotional material
Design and arrange in-store displays
Ensure that checkout areas are always maintained in a clean and orderly condition
Prepare detailed reports on buying trends, customer requests, and profits
Monitor inventory levels and place new inventory orders as needed
Deal with suppliers in the absence of owner/general manager
Authorize payments and return of merchandise
Close/reconcile cash with receipts at the end of each shift and make sure that any discrepancies are managed immediately

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

A bachelor’s degree in business
Minimum 3 years of experience working in a supervisory/management capacity in a supermarket environment
Leadership skills
Customer management skills
Customer-service oriented
In-depth knowledge of basic business management practices
