We are seeking a Business Development Consultant to join our team in the Greater Toronto Area. Reporting to the Vice President, Business Development, this role focuses on growing the portfolio of medium and large market clients by achieving sales results, qualifying leads, and closing new business opportunities. The consultant sells products and services throughout the enterprise, primarily focused on group benefits, and works with C‑suite, senior leadership, and client decision makers in a consultative selling capacity.

Responsibilities
  • Achieve approved sales goals and targets as established by the VP within an assigned geographic area, industry or sector and / or product line; grow sales within the assigned area.
  • Manage the end‑to‑end sales cycle of group insurance, retirement and related products, including identifying opportunities, prospecting, networking, and building a sales pipeline.
  • Collaborate with the VP in setting and establishing the annual sales plan.
  • Identify opportunities for the sale of services within the existing suite and from the broader offerings of People Corporation’s products, capabilities, and services.
  • Actively search for and identify new clients and alternate channels for building the funnel.
  • Ensure prospective client needs are fully understood and represented in RFP and finalist presentations.
  • Analyze client strategic needs and recommend options that will meet those needs; recommend benefits plan design and cost saving measures; develop pricing strategies and stay competitive.
  • Identify the client’s strategic needs, Total Rewards strategy, and insurance philosophy and recommend appropriate plan design, services, products, and cost mitigation strategies.
  • Introduce an Account Management team to work with the client post‑sale and act as the Client Relationship Lead.
  • Present, coordinate, and review all proposals and finalist materials provided to clients to ensure they reflect People Corporation’s product shelf and support client goals.
  • Work in close collaboration with the Executive Sponsor, Marketing, and Underwriting to develop pricing for new clients.
  • Serve as the lead on interactions and communications with prospective clients.
  • Generate additional group business growth with existing clients through effective and professional service and support; maintain positive relations with other departments and client decision makers.
  • Address prospective customer concerns or issues and keep the VP aware of any risk.
  • Ensure all sales data is tracked accurately and timely using the PRM system and the New Business Revenue Sales Tracking Report.
  • Prepare and deliver on‑site presentations to educate clients on People Corporation’s group benefits, retirement, administration, wellness, HR, and other products.
  • Ensure all customer‑facing materials comply with corporate branding, appearance, and content requirements.
  • Ensure all customer service requirements align with and are delivered in accordance with established expectations; project a respectful, positive, professional image at all times.
Qualifications
  • Valid and current LLQP license.
  • Verifiable track record in successfully meeting sales targets.
  • 2‑4 years of group insurance experience specifically in business development.
  • Post‑secondary education and training in commerce, sales & marketing (required).
  • Knowledge of group insurance, retirement and related product sales and client service and support.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
  • Experience in lead generation, sales stages, closing, and procuring new business in B2B settings.
  • Strong, innovative sales and marketing skills with the ability to market organizational strengths successfully.
  • Exceptional active listening skills and ability to discern prospective pain points and needs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the projection of a professional image and style.
